SPECIAL THANKS

IMPORTANT STORIES TO SHARE

The number of people who have worked tirelessly, donated generously, and given their time and talent to help advance our vision and mission is a LONG list. We have attempted to capture these important donors, sponsors, and volunteers on the SPONSORS page and hope you'll have a look!  And, there are a few folks we want to shine a spotlight on.  Without them this organization would not exist as it does today.  Their support is hard to quantify so we call it as it is: INVALUABLE! We want to share a few of those stories here.

Tom Hango

"If it wasn't for Tom Hango, we'd still be at ground zero."

-Rosalie Williams

Cpt. Thomas Hango retired from the Vermont State Police in 2019 as commander of the State Police Communication Centers - he was the longest-serving State Trooper in Vermont at the time–but more than 20 years ago he was a trooper living in Bakersfield. Rosalie recalls the day he stopped by her place on his way home from work and simply asked what was needed to get the project going.  "I told him the first thing we needed according to Act 250 was to get a septic and water design from an engineer and we didn’t have the money," said Rosalie. Tom's response was simple. He said without hesitation, "my dad is an engineer and I’m gonna speak with him." A couple of days later the senior Mr. Hango, Roy, showed up with his granddaughter. "He donated the work so that we could start the project. I will never be able to say thank you enough for that day you  stopped on your way home from work, Tom!"
