ABOUT US
WHO WE ARE. WHAT WE DO. WHY WE DO IT.
The Lucas James Williams Memorial Youth Fund, LTD is a 501c3 nonprofit organization that exists to offer free outdoor programs and activities for youth, families, and community. Based in Bakersfield, Vermont, the organization was formed by the Williams family in honor of their son and brother, Lucas. Lucas was a 19-year-old Bakersfield resident and U.S. Marine who died during Operation Desert Fox in Kuwait on December 22, 1998. Lucas had a passion for the outdoors and a vision for a place for youth to gather and have fun. His family and countless volunteers have worked diligently to make his vision a reality. Thousands of people have been positively impacted over the past two decades.
"My brother, Lucas, loved the outdoors, anything that was outside, he loved. So we try to give back to the people what my brother tried to do. Over the years we have put on summer programs for kids from different counties, hosted cooking classes, Hunter's Education classes, food distribution, camping, bonfires, fishing derbies, and sliding parties. We have had food carts, a cremee stand, and a swimming pool, along with many other things donated to us over the years. We strive on giving kids something to do that they can use their imaginations. We basically just try to provide a safe and fun environment for kids to come and have some FUN!" -Terah Williams
